Entomobrya multifasciata

COLLEMBOLA > ENTOMOBRYOMORPHA > ENTOMOBRYOIDEA > Entomobryidae > Entomobryinae

Entomobrya multifasciata is superficially similar to the two previous species except that it has patchy transverse banding coupled with the dorsal surface of the fourth abdominal segment (abd4) having a pair of distinctive forward-pointing, roughly triangular-shaped, patches of pigment near the posterior edge.

There are far less confirmed records for this species, but it is again considered widespread and very common, being frequently found in leaf litter and on, or around, agricultural crops.

To date, I've only encountered a single specimen, which was found inside an old broken bee-nesting box that I removed from a fence to repair. It was in the company of Entomobrya albocincta and a lone black Sminthurinus, which was most likely Sminthurinus lawrencei.
