Athalia cordata

Bugle Sawfly

HYMENOPTERA > SYMPHYTA > Tenthredinidae > Athaliinae

Probably the most common Athalia species, which is often found around bugle and ground ivy. Identifiable by the extensively black lateral and ventral faces of the thorax coupled with orange pronotum (shoulders). All of its tibiae are ringed apically with black. It has a body length of around 4-7mm.

A widespread species with a flight period from May to September.
