HEMIPTERA > AUCHENORRHYNCHA > CICADOMORPHA > Cercopidae
The Cercopidae family is represented in Britain by a single, very distinctive and unmistakable large, 9-11mm body length, Red-and-Black Froghopper [Cercopis vulnerata]. The species is relatively common and widespread across much of England and Wales occurring in woodland and various open habitats where it is usually found on the stems of low-growing vegetation and grasses. Adults are typically active from April through to the end of August, generally peaking around May and June.
